Send and receive

Start with the account, asset, and payment method. VOUT has on-chain Bitcoin, RGB transfers, and a separate custodial Lightning balance. Their addresses and requests are not interchangeable. The release status page lists availability for the current builds.

Receive Bitcoin

Select the intended account, use the On-chain view, then open Receive and choose Bitcoin. VOUT displays a Bitcoin address and QR code. Use Copy Bitcoin address or Share Bitcoin address to give the address to the sender.

Ask the sender to use Bitcoin on the same network. Other networks or token formats are not accepted at this address. Before sending, the sender should compare the address in their payment review with the address VOUT shows.

An HD account may show a new receiving address. A single-key imported account uses its fixed address. The wallet updates the received balance as it observes the Bitcoin transaction; spendability can depend on confirmations and existing reservations.

Receive an RGB asset

First add the correct asset to the wallet. Names and tickers can be copied by another issuer, so check the asset’s Contract ID.

1. Choose Receive RGB and select the asset.
2. Enter the exact amount you expect.
3. Choose Create receive QR and complete the requested wallet authentication.
4. Share the generated request with Share receive request or Copy receive request.
5. Keep the saved request and follow its payment status.

An RGB request is single-use and identifies one asset and exact amount. It may expire. Create a fresh request for a new payment; do not reuse a previous one.

The receive flow also needs suitable Bitcoin output state for its ownership seal. Any Bitcoin kept in your receiving output remains controlled by your wallet. If VOUT asks you to prepare the account, follow that flow and review any Bitcoin network fee.

A Bitcoin confirmation alone does not establish that the RGB asset has arrived. VOUT also needs the transfer proof and must validate it. Read The RGB transfer lifecycle if the request is waiting for proof or confirmation.

Send from VOUT

Open Send from Home or an asset. Paste the destination into the address, invoice, or username field, or use Scan. VOUT reads the destination and checks it against the selected asset, account, network, and payment method.

For Bitcoin, enter the amount and review the recipient and network fee. For RGB, use the recipient’s current request and review its asset, amount, and fee. A request opened from Chat still leads to wallet review and approval; opening a message does not itself authorize payment.

Check the final review, then use the confirmation control and wallet authentication shown by the app. Fee choices and payment details are explained in Fees and spendable balance.

Use the Lightning balance deliberately

A Lightning invoice or a VOUT username follows the Lightning payment flow. VOUT holds that balance. Adding on-chain funds to it transfers custody to the service; selecting Lightning on Home does not fund it automatically.

Use Pay and receive over Lightning for invoices and username payments, or Add funds and withdraw to move between balances.

When the result is uncertain

Open the saved payment in Activity or In progress and check its status. Continue that payment if VOUT offers the action. Do not create another payment while the first one is waiting, processing, or has an unreadable result. See Troubleshooting for the next steps.
