Your first wallet

A new VOUT wallet starts with keys created on your device and an empty on-chain balance. You can receive Bitcoin, prepare RGB receive requests, and use the other services available in your build. Check release status if the screens below differ from the version you installed.

Create the wallet

1. Open VOUT and choose Create a wallet. Allow the device authentication requested during setup.
2. Wait for the wallet creation screen to finish, then choose Continue. If VOUT reports a setup problem, follow that message before moving funds.
3. Read the Recovery screen. Use View recovery phrase if that option is available for your wallet, and record the words privately and in order. VOUT also needs an encrypted full backup to preserve RGB data.
4. Choose I understand · Continue, then set and confirm a six-digit wallet passcode. Configure Use Face ID if you want biometric access on a supported device.
5. At Pick a handle, choose a username or select Skip. A handle is a public way for people to find you in VOUT. It is not your wallet recovery information.
6. From You’re all set, choose Add funds or Explore the wallet first.

Keep recovery words off chat, email, and web forms. Anyone who obtains the relevant keys can spend the on-chain funds. VOUT cannot reset those keys for you.

Save a backup before you need it

Open Settings → Face ID & passcode → Encrypted wallet backup to reach Backup & recovery. From there, Encrypted wallet backup opens the export and file-check screen.

Use a separate backup password of at least 12 characters, save the resulting file outside the phone, and keep the password separately. Read the complete backup procedure, including what the file contains and what a successful check proves.

Backups are specific to an account and a network. Saving one account does not save every wallet you add later.

Know which balance you are using

Home lets you distinguish On-chain from Lightning. On-chain Bitcoin and RGB assets use your device-held wallet keys. VOUT holds the funds in its Lightning service and records your Lightning balance separately. Moving funds between the two requires a deposit or withdrawal; changing the selected view does not move funds.

A Bitcoin address receives on-chain BTC. An RGB payment uses a request for a particular asset and amount. A Lightning invoice belongs to the Lightning service. Read Send and receive before sharing the first request.

Some builds offer Testnet4 in network settings. It has separate wallets and valueless test coins. Switching networks never converts test coins into real Bitcoin or transfers a balance between them.

If setup pauses

If an account is already saved but RGB setup is incomplete, VOUT may offer Retry RGB setup or Continue with Bitcoin. Continue with that saved account. Creating another wallet would give you another set of keys without fixing the first account’s setup.
